Overview

The GL-DYX150S is the SMA-connector version of the compact VHF terminal whip, a 12 cm flexible antenna covering 134-173 MHz at 1.8 dBi. Many current professional and amateur handhelds have moved to the smaller SMA jack rather than the older BNC and TNC interfaces, and this model is built specifically to drop onto those radios without an adapter in the signal path.

Matched to Modern Radios

By terminating in an SMA male connector, the antenna threads straight onto the most common SMA-female radio sockets, giving a tight, low-loss connection that bayonet fittings cannot always match in a high-vibration pocket-carried environment. The element itself is a 50 ohm vertical omnidirectional radiator rated for 30 W, matched across the 136-174 MHz land-mobile band so the radio performs the same on every channel in its plan.

Handling and Durability

At 12 cm it keeps the everyday balance of reasonable range and comfortable carry, close to the popular 13 cm BNC model but sized for SMA bodies.
