The GL-DYX150SC is a handheld whip purpose-tuned to the 156-162 MHz marine VHF segment, the channels used for ship-to-ship, ship-to-shore, harbour control and waterway safety traffic. Rather than spreading its match across the whole VHF spectrum, it concentrates on the band that matters at sea, which gives a cleaner match and more consistent performance exactly where boaters and crews need it.

Why a Band-Specific Antenna

A radiator optimised for 156-162 MHz holds a better VSWR on the marine channels than a wideband whip that has to compromise across a much larger span. That efficiency helps a portable radio get its full output into the air during the brief, critical transmissions typical of marine work, from calling a lock keeper to a safety hail. The 15 cm element delivers 1.5 dBi with an omnidirectional vertical pattern and a 30 W rating, suited to handheld and portable marine sets.

Construction

The flexible jacketed element tolerates the salt-laden, knock-prone conditions of a deck or quayside, bending rather than breaking when stowed in a grab bag or life jacket pocket. It uses an SMA male connector to fit the SMA-female sockets common on modern handheld marine and multiband radios, keeping the connection tight in a wet, vibrating environment.
