What It Is

The GL-DY150IA is a taller four-bay folded dipole array for 134-173 MHz, optimised for a touch more gain than the base model in its family. Configured around the mast it provides 9 dBi of omnidirectional coverage; arranged to fire toward one direction it delivers 12 dBi. At 6.7 m it uses a longer aperture to lift gain while keeping the broadband, high-reliability behaviour that folded dipoles are valued for at fixed sites.

Coverage Flexibility

The choice between omni and directional operation is what sets this class of antenna apart. A site that must blanket a town or service area in every direction uses the omnidirectional configuration, while a site on the edge of its coverage zone, or one that must concentrate power across a valley or coastline, uses the directional configuration for the extra 3 dB. The same part number covers both, simplifying planning and spares. Vertical polarization aligns with land-mobile and paging systems.

Mechanical Build

The antenna carries a 50 ohm feed on a UHF or N-female connector and is rated for 100 W of continuous input. It ships separated into two parts for transport and is assembled before being hoisted onto a mast, with a 60 m/s wind rating for permanent outdoor duty. The dipole elements and galvanised support hardware are built to survive long-term exposure on exposed towers.
