High-Gain 280 MHz Array

The GL-DY280IIA is the eight-bay folded dipole for the 260-290 MHz band, doubling the bays of the standard model to reach 12 dBi omnidirectional or 15 dBi directional. At 7 m it remains manageable thanks to the short 280 MHz wavelength, yet delivers the kind of gain that lets a single high site cover a wide area or reach far across a chosen sector.

Why More Bays

Eight stacked bays produce a narrow vertical beam that throws energy along the horizon, raising effective range. In omnidirectional mode the 12 dBi covers all directions evenly; reconfigured directionally, the 15 dBi focuses on one side for long-distance links or edge coverage. This flexibility lets one antenna serve both a hub role and a directional-fill role on the 260-290 MHz allocation, and the broadband folded dipoles maintain the match across the band at the 100 W rating.

Construction

The 7 m array ships separated into four parts for transport and is assembled in sections on site before being raised. It uses a 50 ohm feed on a UHF or N-female connector, and a 60 m/s wind rating with sturdy hardware supports permanent mast-top service. The vertical polarization suits land-mobile and specialised radio networks on the band.
