GL-DY230B 220-290 MHz 9 dBi Yagi Antenna

Overview

The GL-DY230B is the entry point in the 220-290 MHz Yagi range, a 5-element directional beam on a 1 metre boom. It concentrates 9 dBi of gain into a single forward lobe, which makes it the right tool when you need to push a 220 MHz signal toward one fixed point rather than radiate it in all directions. The short boom keeps wind load and mast torque low, so it is easy to install on a light pole or bracket.

Directional Behaviour

With five elements the antenna achieves a 14 dB front-to-back ratio, a vertical beamwidth of 48 degrees and a horizontal beamwidth of 54 degrees. That pattern rejects signals and noise arriving from behind the antenna, which both increases usable range in the wanted direction and reduces interference picked up from other sites. Polarization can be set vertical or horizontal simply by how the boom is mounted, giving flexibility to match the station at the far end of the link.

Construction and Feed

The driven element feeds a 50 ohm system through an N-female connector and the antenna handles 100 W, enough for repeater links, fixed base stations and most data radios on the band. A 60 m/s wind rating and weatherproof hardware suit permanent outdoor service. The compact 1 m length also makes it convenient for portable and temporary deployments where a larger beam would be unwieldy.

Choose GL-DY230B when a modest, easy-to-mount directional gain is enough. For longer reach step up through the 8-element GL-DY230C and 10-element GL-DY230D, or to the stacked GL-DY230E where the highest gain is required. Confirm the link frequency falls inside 220-290 MHz and the far-end polarization before installation.
