GL401D provides a shorter alternative to GL400F when installation length is constrained. It also has a wider horizontal beam, so the decision involves pointing width as well as the higher gain offered by GL400F.
If antenna weight is the tighter limit, compare GL400Z5WS instead: it is shorter and lighter than GL401D, with lower listed gain. All three should be checked against the required frequencies and their separate bandwidth figures before selection.
