What It Delivers

The GL-DY230C steps up the 220-290 MHz Yagi family to eight elements on a 1.5 metre boom, lifting forward gain to 11.2 dBi. The extra directors sharpen the beam and add roughly 2 dB over the 5-element model, which on a real path can be the difference between a marginal link and a solid one. It is the practical mid-range choice for fixed directional service on the 220 MHz band.

Pattern and Rejection

Eight elements tighten the main lobe to a 40 degree vertical and 44 degree horizontal beamwidth and raise the front-to-back ratio to 16 dB. The narrower beam puts more energy on the distant station and the improved rejection keeps unwanted signals from the rear and sides out of the receiver, which is valuable on congested bands or where multiple links share a tower. As with the rest of the series, vertical or horizontal polarization is selected by the mounting orientation.

Mechanical and Electrical

The antenna is fed at 50 ohms through an N-female connector and rated for 100 W, matching common repeater and data transmitters. The 1.5 m boom remains manageable for a single installer while giving the longer aperture needed for the higher gain, and the 60 m/s wind rating supports year-round outdoor mounting on a mast or tower leg.
