Compact Stacked VHF Array

The GL-DYJ150D takes a different route to high VHF gain: rather than a long single boom, it stacks two five-element bays to reach 12 dBi from a compact 1.2 m boom length. Stacking adds the apertures while keeping each bay short, which is useful where a 2 m-plus single beam would be impractical to handle or mount but the path still demands strong directional gain on the 134-173 MHz band.

Vertical-Plane Focus

Combining two bays vertically narrows the vertical beamwidth and concentrates energy toward the horizon, where terrestrial links live, while the horizontal beam stays broad enough to aim without difficulty. The result is 12 dBi of gain with good rejection of high-angle noise and rear interference. The array can be configured for vertical or horizontal polarization by its mounting to suit the system at the other end of the link.

Construction

The two bays are phased into a single 50 ohm feed presented on a UHF or N-female connector, rated for 100 W. Because the structure is wider than a single boom but shorter front-to-back, it distributes wind load differently; a sturdy cross-mount and the 60 m/s wind hardware keep it stable. The compact depth makes it easier to ship and to install on space-limited masts.
