LNA-amplified positioning

Active GPS/GNSS Antennas (with LNA)

Active GPS/GNSS antennas with a built-in low-noise amplifier for external mounts and long cable runs. The LNA amplifies the signal before the cable, so a long coax run does not starve the receiver.

Selection framework

Choose an active antenna correctly

Active antennas are about the RF path, not quality. Size the amplifier to your cable, not to the biggest number.

01

When to use active

External or roof mounts, or any coax run beyond roughly 30 cm where line loss degrades the signal.

02

LNA gain vs cable loss

Pick gain to offset your cable loss plus a small margin; too much gain can overload the receiver.

03

Bias voltage

Active antennas draw DC (typically 2.7-5 V) over the coax; confirm the receiver supplies bias or add a bias-T.

04

Connector & mount

Match SMA, IPEX or QMA and the mount to the install.

Applications

Designed around real deployments

Roof & vehicle mounts

Antennas mounted away from the receiver.

Remote outdoor receivers

Low-sensitivity receivers and long runs.

Timing references
